Three Great Places To Spend Christmas In The UK

General No Comments »

Here are our favorite places to visit across the UK this Christmas…

1) London

London is one of the world’s great capital cities and a breathtaking place to visit over Christmas, with too many events to mention here. The whole city sparkles with lights and this year Regent and Oxford street intend to coordinate their switching on events to celebrate the premier of Disney’s A Christmas Carol.

Throughout the city, there are many Christmas shows including theatre, ballet and pantomimes on top of many Festive Fairs. Trafalgar Square is a great place to hear carolers who sing to raise money for a number of charities. London is the place to be if you are looking for a never ending variety of things to do over the holidays.

2) York

Well known for the magical Christmas experience that it offers, York is a place that really makes the extra effort as far as Christmas lights and street entertainment go. Christmas melodies fill the streets, the aromas of chestnuts and hot chocolate abound, and Santa can be counted upon to make regular visits.

Activities include ice skating at the Ice Factor, the Festival of Angels, wonderful pantomimes, amazing music presentations, and ghost tours for the real thrill seekers. It also features many historical sites, like the renowned Yorkshire Museum, York Dungeon and the York Castle Museum, all of which are decorated appropriately during Christmastime.

3) Edinburgh

Edinburgh is full of sites to see at Christmas-time. Among the sparkling fountains, the decked out Edinburgh’s Christmas Tree and the unique, realistic Nativity Scene, you can enjoy a “White Christmas” at the featured Edinburgh Sparkles Snow Globe. Entertainment includes puppet shows, dance production and music broadcasts, in addition to carol concerts.

Craft fairs and parades start to appear in the week preceding the big day, around which time the celebrations and festivities really go up a notch. By the time the 31st December comes around, the whole place reaches its peak, and Edinburgh is widely regarded as being the best UK location to see in the New Year.

Budget Hotel Chains believe that everyone deserves at least one night a year in a great hotel at an even greater price. Budget Hotel Chains allows browsers to easily compare the many hotels marketed by the finest budget hotel offers.

A UK Holiday I Enjoyed

General No Comments »

I am not really one that usually goes on UK family holidays, simply because of the fact that I have always thought that I am in the UK non stop for 12 months so I at least deserve a break overseas.

My last few holidays overseas have been pretty abysmal to be honest; the thing about going abroad is that you always seem to end up picking a hotel which is just completely terrible. The negative aspect about going abroad, is that they do not really listen to the 5 star rule. I have been to a hotel that was classed as a five star and instead turned up being worse than a 2 star hotel.

So this year I chose to stay in Britain as I was let down abroad and also the credit crunch did not really help out too much. Torquay, Devon and Cornwall was a destination that most UK holiday makers go to, so I chose to take a trip down there. My first thought on seeing the hotel basically blew me away.

Once I made my way into the room it was much better than previously imagined and compared to accommodation I stayed in abroad it was a lot better indeed. The rest of the trip passed by very beautifully and I found myself making my way to the beach where the water was as clear as a freshly run bath. The events that they have in UK hotels are endless, they have activities through the whole day for all ages.

I have already booked another UK holiday in a few months and I would definitely recommend it to anyone that is looking for a break, whether it’s for bowls holidays, dancing holidays or relaxation then UK travel is at its prime.
