I had to go to London to complete a business deal with a supplier I have worked with for the past 10 good years. I made similar trips to Holland anf France last year. My desire to visit London was to see what the City has to offer its toruists. I made two reservations to be able to explore the Capital well. One week in Russell Square and one week in Victoria area in the south.
I took a taxi from the Airport to go to the Russell square where I checked into Tavistock hotel. The Russell square is home to many good hotels.
On my first day, I just fell in love with the area. With my street map, I decided to start my tour of the City just after some few hours at the tavistock hotel. London was exactly as I have read in books. As I want to see some of the over 7 million items in the British Museum and also the over 150 items of known formats and languages in the British Library, I went to those two places in Russell Square first. From British Museum, I proceeded to the Covent garden to see the street performers I have read about.
For the rest of the week at Tavistock hotel London, I visited the West end area. I visited the Marble arch and the Oxford Circus. I visited the Leicester Square which is sometime called The Theatreland. The area has got a lot of cinema theatres. I also went to the Piccadilly Circus which was a very busy area. I paid a visit to the shopping streets in the West End area on my 5th day and was surprised to see that the place was so dense with shoppers and other tourists. I came to raelise that the Oxford Street, the Bond street and the Regent street were indeed very busy shopping streets. The China Town and the Soho were just off the Oxford Street so I took the opportunity to vist the area.
I went to stay in Victoria area in my second week as booked through Cheap London hotels agency. The london area I was dying to stay at was Victoria just to be able the see the Houses of Parliament, big ben and Buckingham Palace. At Victoria, my first place of interest I visited was Buckingham Palace to witness the changing of the guard. I wanted to see the Tower clock also called the Big Ben for I have read a lot about it in books. I also saw the Houses of Parliament because they were at the same spot. I also took a trip to the Westminster Abbey at the Parliament Square. Finally, I went to have a look at the London Eye. It is a piece of are which will always attract tourists. I am not surprised people like to visit the London Eye because it is a magnificent Landmark. I enjoyed my stay in Central London and I would like to stay in the cheap hotels in Russell square as they have good accommodation standard but lower rates.
